Signal Conditioning/ReDriver™ - Open Your Eyes!

The advent of high-speed, serial-differential protocols like the PCIe operating at 2.5Gbps data rates and above, system designers are forced to confront the challenges of maintaining eye-pattern signal integrity at the receiver end-points. At these high transmission rates, signal integrity issues become increasingly restrictive on PCB trace and cable lengths, and on design implementation and features. Poor signal quality can significantly impact system performance and reliability. Pericom’s ReDriver™ products focus on the demands of high-speed serial interfaces in the form of signal conditioners that adjust and correct for signal level attenuation and noise (jitter) using equalization, pre-emphasis/de-emphasis techniques resulting in the eye pattern at the receiver end having the margins needed to deliver low bit error rates with high-speed signal protocols including PCI Express, SATA, SAS, and other popular standards.
