Pericom Expands PCI Express (PCIe) SlimLine™ Family with Fully Featured High-performance Bridge Product
New PCIe-to-PCI Bridge IC brings low power and small footprint capabilities to high-performance applications

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM (IDF), Taipei, Taiwan, 2008-10-20 - Pericom Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: PSEM), a worldwide preferred supplier of products for timing, signal conditioning and connectivity, today announced the addition of a new SlimLine™ bridge to its existing family of SlimLine PCI Express® (PCIe®) packet switch and bridge products. SlimLine products offer the industry’s smallest, lowest power PCIe bridges and packet switches ideal for power-performance-and-size-sensitive applications like notebook/PC, embedded, video surveillance, wireless, networking, and digital TV. Pericom will display this new product, along with its DisplayPort™ and signal integrity solutions, at the Intel Developer’s Forum, booth #A28, Taipei International Convention Center Taipei, Taiwan, October 20-21, 2008.

The PI7C9X112SL (‘9X112’) is a PCIe to PCI Bridge with typical operating power consumption of well under 450mW (milliWatts). The 9X112’s small 14mm x 14mm LQFP (Low profile Quad Flat Package) package with external ‘gull wing’ pin design is assembly and test friendly making it extremely popular for volume PCB applications. As with all SlimLine products, the 9X112 features Pericom’s PowerSave™ green technology, reducing power consumption by up to 30% in normal operating mode. The SlimLine family also offers a PCIe-to-PCI Bridge and two PCIe packet switches; all offer the latest in IC design and process technology advancements for products of this class.

“Pericom has invested in this newest generation of PCIe products to give our customers cutting edge and best-in-class throughput performance, smallest packaging, and lowest power,” said Bill Weir, Pericom’s senior marketing director for Connect Products. “The 9X112 is industry unique as it provides the only commercially available PCIe to 8-PCI-end-point-capable bridge product in the market. It also expands our SlimLine family to include higher PCI-end-point applications.”
