San Jose, CA, 2006-11-27 - Pericom Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: PSEM), a worldwide preferred supplier of high-speed integrated circuits and frequency
control products, today announced it has expanded its industry-leading high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) switch portfolio with four new
high-bandwidth differential signal switch solutions for multi-source or multi-sink video applications including TV, monitor, set-top box, switch box, and game
consoles.
Pericom’s HDMI Rev 1.3 switches are fully compliant that can support the newly released standard (released in June of
2006). With 16-bit deep color support (3.3Gbps), they can be used to connect various high performance HD source products to a single HD video
display. Housed in lead-free and green packaging, these solutions also provide high bandwidth of up to 5.4 Gbps, low insertion loss, high ESD tolerance,
ideal pin-out, and are fully compliant to the latest HDMI Rev. 1.3 standard.
“As a leader in the video interconnect market, Pericom
was the first vendor to ship more than 1 million units per quarter of HDMI signal switch solutions,” said Shaf Rahman, Pericom’s senior
director of Switch and Interface Marketing. “The addition of these new products expands our offering to 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 HDMI revision 1.3
compliant switches, which will allow us to increase our market share and be ready for the triple and quadruple HDMI connector systems. In addition to the
ideal switching scheme, Pericom’s products can maintain signal integrity through the system, due to its unique high-bandwidth technology”
The newly released HDMI products, PI3HDMI412FT-A, PI3HDMI1212, PI3HDMI413-A, and PI3HDMI414 have been designed with
Pericom’s new patent-pending technology. This technology is used to achieve the specific impedance required for HDMI/DVI signals to minimize
reflections and insertion loss, while still maintaining differential impedance requirements per the revision 1.3 specifications. When designing a
sink-system, differential impedance must only be maintained from the sink HDMI input connector to the Pericom switch. Along with signal integrity,
differential impedance, Pericom switch solutions also handle ESD protection on each HDMI connector up to 8kV contact protection.

HDMI:
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first and only industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital
audio/video interface. By delivering crystal-clear, all-digital audio and video via a single cable, HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide
customers with the highest-quality experience. HDMI provides an interface between any audio/video source, such as a set-top box, DVD player, or A/V
receiver and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (DTV), over a single cable. |
