INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, Shanghai, China, 2006-11-09 - Pericom Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: PSEM), a worldwide preferred supplier of PCI Express
technology used for switching, timing, bridging and signal integrity, today announced additional new PCI Express products designed for a broad range of
applications. Pericom will demonstrate these new devices, booth number 2727, at the Intel Developer Forum, Shanghai International Convention Center,
November 9-10.
The company’s new PI7C9X130 PCIe to PCI-X Bridge IC is the latest addition to its PCISIG certified PCI Express
Bridge Family and addresses the needs of a wide range of applications, including blade and motherboard based servers, HBA and NIC cards, data
storage, switch and router control planes, industrial PCs, multi-function printers and print servers, test equipment, data acquisition, and telecom.
Pericom will also demonstrate its new PCIe Packet24TM Switch Family and its award-winning signal conditioning technology. Pericom’s PCI
Express product offering is the most comprehensive in the industry, including Bridges, Packet Switches, PHY, Re-Drivers, Signal Switches and
Clock/Timing solutions.
“This industry first feature set combination provides significant cost, board space, and power savings
advantages to new customer design and meets the performance expectations for these next generation PCIe platforms,” said Bill Weir,
Pericom’s senior marketing director of Connect Products. “Our new PCIe to PCI-X Bridge is ideal for high performance applications, such
as volume server motherboard or riser card, that require high transfer rate, low power, small footprint and practical extra features.”
Industry analysts estimate the third party PCIe IC market to be several hundred million USD by end of 2009, of which legacy PCIe to PCI and PCI-X
bridge function products are expected to be a significant segment in the near- to mid-term.
“Pericom continues to broaden its PCIe
bridge and switch product line,” said Jag Bolaria senior analyst at the Linley Group. “The company’s latest PCI-X bridge and switch
products enable OEMs to cost effectively upgrade existing PCI-X adapters as well as develop new blade server systems.”
The
PI7X9X130 PCIe to PCI-X Bridge supports a single x4 PCIe port to single PCI-X domain. The Bridge is fully reversible, offers non-transparent as well as
transparent mode, operates in either 133MHz PCI-X, or 66MHz PCI modes, and is fully compliant to the latest PCISIG PCIe revision 1.1 and PCI-X Bridge
2.0a specifications. Industry unique features include 5 Volt tolerant I/O pins, 512 Byte capable payload size, 6 PCI/PCI-X Masters, and 7 GPIO pins.
As with all Pericom PCI Express family Bridge products, the PI7C9X130 is designed in collaboration with top tier customers to offer the
lowest latency under high performance operating conditions, user ‘tunable’ registers to optimize transfer rates, and includes optional as well
as standard PCIe power management states. At 17x17mm, the 256 BGA Pb free and green package offers customers the smallest PCIe to PCI-X Bridge
footprint in the industry, with no heatsink required across the standard commercial operating temperature range.
