What is a RSS feed?
Have you
seen all of the funny little orange boxes that say XML or RSS
on websites lately? If you have a myYahoo page set up, you are using
RSS
and may not know it. All the news items on your myYahoo page such
as Reuters World News, or ESPN Sporting News is generated from an
RSS
feed. Now you can have Pericom too!
RSS feeds provide news updates from a website in a simple form for your
computer. You read these files in a program called an aggregator, which
collects news from various websites (like Pericom or the New York
Times)
and delivers it to you in a simple form.
These tools can be on your desktop, in your browser, or in your email,
it all
depends on the aggregator you choose. Common news readers include
myYahoo, Google, and Firefox Live bookmarks.
Our
initial RSS launch includes all new Pericom press releases, but
in the future we may grow this medium to include other activity such
as
new PDN, PCN, and datasheet updates. This service is available to
our customers, employees, and our partners alike.
Go to our
help page and try it today. Be sure to right-click (not left
click) your mouse on the RSS button, then save to your news aggregator
(news
reader). http://www.pericom.com/rss/index.php. We hope you find
this technology
useful and it helps to keep you abreast of key Pericom
events.
Of course we have several great news items in
the works right
now.
