Access Next Generation DisplayPort™ or PCI Express® Graphics

PCI Express - Catch the Pericom PCI Express

PI3PCIE2612-A and PI3PCIE2612-B

The newest generation of PC chipsets provides a single PCIe Gen2 (PCIeG2) 16-lane graphics port which can also output DisplayPort™ (DP) protocol from an internal embedded graphics accelerator. This dual-function port can be seen in Intel’s new EagleLake (DT PC) and Cantiga (NB PC) chipsets.

The high-speed demands of both DP and PCIeG2 signals require direct point-to-point connections but the signals must be directed to either a PCIe Gen2 16-lane slot to drive a graphics accelerator card or to a DP connector to drive a monitor directly. Pericom’s PI3PCIE2612-x provides this switching function, directing the PCIeG2/DP signal to the appropriate DP or PCIe connector depending on the system’s operating mode.

Pericom’s PI3PCIE2612-A and PI3PCIE2612-B provide a significant advantage: the same motherboard design can now be used to inexpensively and easily support the integrated DP graphics while also providing an upgrade path to high-end accelerator cards. Without this switch, only one of the graphics options would be available.

The chipset includes a graphics engine and the dual-mode PCIeG2/DP port which can supply signals with either PCIeG2 protocol, or with DP protocol depending on how the system has been configured. The PI3PCIE2612 switch directs the data either to the PCIe connector with graphics accelerator card, or to a DP connector. Either the direct DP port or graphics card is connected to a display monitor; both ports cannot operate simultaneously.

Introducing the First PCIe to UART I/O SBridge™!

PCI Express - Catch the Pericom PCI Express

Pericom’s one-chip UART solutions can give you the performance, flexibility, footprint, and cost savings required to deliver the most competitive industrial and commercial platforms to your customers in a variety of applications such as Remote Access Servers, Automation, Process Control, Instrumentation, POS, ATM and Multi-port RS232/RS422/RS485 Cards.

The UART Family consists of PCIe Dual (PI7C9X7952), PCIe Quad (PI7C9X7954), and PCIe Octal (PI7C9X7958) I/O SBridge™. It is specifically designed to meet the latest system requirements of high performance, Pb-free and reduced package sizes.

The UART Family provides one x1 PCIe (dual simplex 2.5 Gbps) uplink port, and it is fully compliant with PCIe 1.1 and PCI power management 1.2 specifications. The bridge supports two, four, or eight high performance UARTs, each of which supports Baud rate up to 15 Mbps in asynchronous mode and 62.5 Mbps in synchronous mode.

The UARTs support in-band and out-band auto flow control, arbitrary trigger I/O mapping and memory mapping. The UART Family is fully software compatible with 16C550-type device drivers and can be configured to fit the requirements of RS232, RS422 and RS485 applications.

The EEPROM interface is provided for system implementation convenience. Some registers can be pre-programmed via hardware pin settings to facilitate system initialization. For programming flexibility, all of the default configuration registers can be overwritten by EEPROM data, such as sub-vendor and sub-system ID.

Open Your Eyes to the Power of ReDriver™ Signal Integrity Solutions!

PCI Express - Catch the Pericom PCI Express

Poor signal quality can significantly impact system performance and reliability in high-speed applications.
Pericom’s ReDriver™ products focus on the demands of high-speed serial interfaces in the form of signal conditioners that adjust and correct for signal level attenuation and noise (jitter) using equalization, pre-emphasis/de-emphasis techniques resulting in the eye pattern at the receiver end having the margins needed to deliver low bit error rates with high-speed signal protocols including PCI Express, SATA, SAS, and other popular standards.
