Get Connected to Power-saving Packet Switches

Pericom's very low-power, small footprint packet switch family (P17C9X20404GP, P17C9X20505GP and P17C9X20508GP) offers a peer-to-peer solution with state-of-the-art fabric switching core. These offer the most intelligent packet routing and switching from the PCI Express Root Complex (RC) to multiple x1 fanouts on the downstream ports. Available today.
DESIGN TIP: Pericom GreenPacket™ solutions can be ROM driver optimized thru the load register setting (serial EPROM) - so it can all be done without additional software.
Get Connected to Next Generation SATA2, SAS and XAUI Signal Switching!

Pericom supplies the first simple, low-cost switching solution for 3Gbps+ differential SATA2, SAS and XAUI signals. The PI2DBS212 is a 1-port, bi-directional, differential, 1:2 mux/demux switch supporting data rates of 3.2Gbps. The switch is controlled by a signal select input, and provides low bit-to-bit skew and crosstalk, with a power supply of 1.8V. Packaging options include the 28-contact TQFN or 20-lead QSOP. The PI2DBS412 is a 2-port version of the PI2DBS212 and is offered in a small 42-TQFN package.
One application example is shown in the diagram below. This set top box system uses the SATA switch to enable simple storage upgrades. To minimize their initial investment in hardware, the service operator may ship a basic system with a small, inexpensive hard disk drive. The SATA switch provides an upgrade path allowing the consumer to expand the video storage capacity to meet their needs via the external SATA port and SATA drive. Another application is in server backplane switching of SAS and XAUI to allow connection of different devices across a single set of traces.
PI2EQX32xxA and PI2EQX32xxB Series ReDrivers for SATA/SAS

Pericom provides a series of eight ReDriver signal conditioning components validated specifically for SATA2 and SAS applications. The PI2EQX3201A, PI2EQX3202A, PI2EQX3211A, PI2EQX3232A, PI2EQX3201B, PI2EQX3202B, PI2EQX3211B and PI2EQX3232B support the SATA2i, SATA2m, SATA2x and SAS standards at data rates to 3.0Gbps, and are offered with multiple package, lane, and configuration options. These devices help maintain eye-pattern signal integrity of the high-speed signals which degrade quickly, to reduce errors and ensure reliability and performance.
The diagram below shows an example of the SATA2 ReDriver used in a notebook PC. In this example a one-lane PI2EQX3201B ReDriver is placed adjacent to the external SATA connector, and corrects for signal degradation across the PCB to insure that the signal meets compliance test requirements when measured at the connector (as specified in the standard). SATA/SAS ReDrivers are used in many applications including servers, desktop PC and consumer electronics.
