USB (Universal Serial Bus), arguably the most successful interconnect technology in computing history, has evolved to leverage its Vbus power to power USB devices as well as charge USB devices. In recognition of this capability, the USB-Implementers Forum (USB-IF) released the USB 1.0 and USB 1.1 charger specifications. The GSM Association has also announced support for the European Union Commissioner's request to standardize on a cellular phone charging specification, surrounding the micro-USB connector.
