USB Sleep-and-charge
USB (Universal Serial Bus), arguably
the most successful interconnect technology in computing history,
has evolved to leverage its Vbus power to power USB
devices as well as charge USB
devices. In recognition of this capability, the USB-Implementers
Forum (USB-IF) released the USB 1.0 and USB 1.1 charger specifications.
The GSM Association has also announced support for the European
Union Commissioner's request to standardize on a cellular phone
charging specification, surrounding the micro-USB connector.
Delivering 10x the data transfer rate of USB 2.0. Super Speed USB, or USB
3.0, has arrived! The USB 3.0 specification is now fully released and provides
users with a data-transfer rate of 5Gbps signaling rates.
Pericom is well positioned for both of these evolving trends. For USB charging, Pericom offers over-voltage protection and device detection/charging support when USB enumeration is not available. For USB 3.0, Pericom provides signal conditioning devices along with switching/muxing solutions. See our latest USB products (PI3USB103 & PI5USB56) or view all
